The 14th Japan Men’s Conference

Guys, are you OK?

Unmarried, married and divorced = A man’s tragedy? –

Divorce rates are up and the number of non-married people is increasing. The painful reality of child deprivation, abduction, and parent-child separation over divorce cannot be overlooked anymore. The government has begun to say it will consider joint custody after divorce, but the issue is not easy. There are no signs of an end to the family problems, even after the enactment of the Domestic Violence Prevention Act and the Child Abuse Prevention Act, and support for men has not progressed at all while the limits and contradictions of support for women are also being discussed. Twenty years after the discourse of “From Manhood to Selfhood,” I would like to discuss true male freedom.

In order to create a society and family where men and women are not in conflict with each other, but truly equal, and where each person’s individuality is respected, we would like to have a place for dialogue and empathy where women and men can talk about the laws and systems surrounding the family and deepen their mutual understanding. So far, we have held thirteen meetings in which men and women have talked with each other as individuals with their own family issues. This year we would like to hold a meeting in Osaka for the people who are involved in the issue.
